Snow Falling in Tamachi
Multiple exposure photograph, 35mm film
Tokyo, Japan MMVI
Limited edition print on Hahnemühle German etching paper
Multiple exposure photograph on 35mm film, superimposing two mirror images of a skyscraper with an elevated perspective of the high street in Tamachi at rush hour.
I'll always regard this image as a defining moment in my photographic journey, unlocking a paradigm that remains the foundation of my work. Fifteen years later, I remember the moment I made this image very vividly, making all three exposure from the exit same spot on a bridge. I recall the soft sting of the November air on my hand and cheeks, the melodic rumble of the street below, and the intense anticipation of getting this particular roll of film developed.
